Psychogenic Non Epileptic Seizures Information
Can someone tell if it is PNES or epileptic seizures (ES) just by looking at the event itself? NO!
If we compare the PNES and epileptic seizures, it looks like PNES attacks most frequently resemble generalized, tonic-clonic seizures (generalized stiffening followed by shaking) or other events with complex symptoms (staring and non-responsiveness). But there are still plenty of variations.
Because PNES attacks can often resemble different types of epileptic attacks, a diagnosis should never be made without EEG confirmation.
